Mir Phulwari was the Nawab (governor) of Bengal in 1765-66, taking the title Najim ad-Daulah or ‘Star of State’. He died at the age of 16, reputedly from a fever caught at a party held in Murshidabad in honour of Robert Clive, who had helped Phulwari’s father Mir Ja’far to become Nawab.
