Head

Head of the Buddha, carved in grey schist. This markedly Graeco-Roman head, based on the Apollo type, indicates the ushnisha, the head protuberance which is one of the auspicious marks of the Buddha, by a naturalistic sweeping up of the hair to the top of the head.
