Palampore

By the third quarter of the 18th century, Chinese design elements had come to dominate the flowering tree patterns that were typical of the Indian chintz furnishings sent to Europe. This hanging uses Chinese rocks, pheasants and peony flowers in a design that is clearly based on Chinese wall-papers.
