# Ceremonial skirt cloth

This cotton ceremonial skirt-cloth (Thai: ‘pha nung’) was made in India for export to south-east Asia. This example, with a design of celestial deities, was probably for use at court. Cloths for the Thai market are among the finest Indian painted cottons produced for the Asian trade.
