This relief panel depicts the Buddha seated in a meditation posture beneath a tree festooned with garlands; angels hover above. He is surrounded by devotees, hands clasped together in veneration. The scene may be taken to represent the Buddha beneath the Bodhi tree at Bodhgaya, after he has attained Enlightenement.
