Fragment

This fragment of block-printed and resist-dyed Indian cotton cloth was found (along with many hundreds of others) at Fostat, the capital of Egypt until 969 AD when it moved to Cairo. Fostat eventually became used as a rubbish disposal area for Cairo, which is no doubt how so many textile fragments ended up there.
