The Period of Disorder: (C. 1198-1336 A.D.)
c10.s5.1
The period from C.1198-A.D. to C.1336 A.D., almost a century and a quarter of years, was the period of uneasiness in Karṇāṭaka, in particular and South India in general. The fall of the Later Chālukyas paved the way to the gradual rise of the Deccan Sultanates, as there was no centralised power of Hindu order to control the affairs of this part of the country. It is only with the founding of the Vijayanagara empire in C.1336 A.D., the political, social and religious affairs of this region were brought effectively into order under the one most powerfully centralised control i.e. Vijayanagara administration.
