485 Asaṅga, master of the Yogāchāra system of the Mahāyānist Buddhists, flourished between A.D. 485 and 560. He lived long in Oudh and Magadha, and died at Rājagṛiha at the age of seventy-five. Vasubandhu, Asaṅga’s younger brother, author of the Abhidharmakośa, etc., must be placed somewhat later.—Mémoires de Hiouen Thsang, iv, 223. Vassilief, Le Bouddisme, 219, 222.
