Analysis of Table LXIV

c10.s48.1

The second sign in Col. IV may be X + ∧, i.e., the syllable X pronounced with o. The third sign may be ideographically independent.

c10.s48.2

X is probably X + ⊓. The latter element is found also with ⏁ and ⏂. (Tables LXXI and LXXXVI). It is not found independently, so that it is unlikely that we have here a compound of two signs. It is more probably to be explained as a modifying element, like ∧. As we have said above ⊓ probably represents a labial glide.¹ X is conceivably X modified by the anusvar. In that case the original form of the anusvar would be ⍙, of which ⍚ and ⍛ would be later variants. ⍜ in Table XXVI would thus be explained as ⌑ + X.

c10.s48.3

¹ Perhaps the full and earliest form of ⊓ is ⊓ (see Table LXX).
