Like all systems, however, the method of drainage adopted by the people of Mohenjo-daro had its limitations. In some cases it has been found that a drain was placed much too close to a well, so that a certain amount of seepage from one to the other must inevitably have taken place. Perhaps this was not so serious a matter as it sounds, especially if the well was in constant use, for the people of the city were, no doubt, more or less immune to typhoid; but a case of cholera in the vicinity of a well would have produced very serious results.
