Although Daulatābād had fallen, much remained to be done towards the complete establishment of imperial rule in the dominions of Ahmadnagar. In the west, towards the Konkan, Shāhjī Bhonsle held much territory and resided at the fort of Pemgarh. In the fortress of Jalodhan, sixteen miles from Junnar, some scions of the Nizām Shāhī line still remained imprisoned. Shāhjī obtained possession of the person of one of these, a child, and entitled him Murtazā Nizām Shāh III.
