¹ Madras Jour. of Lit. and Science, Vol. VII. p. 207; and Jour. R. As. Soc., F. S., Vol. IV. p. 15.—The name was read, as ‘Yerabaragi,’ more correctly by Sir Walter Elliot than by myself. I read it as ‘Rambarage’ and ‘Rambirage’ (Jour. Bo. Br. R. As. Soc. Vol. XI. pp. 236, 245), under circumstances which would justify that reading. The real form, Erambarage,—or, as actually written in the particular record, Yerambarage,—is disclosed by an inscription at Aihoḷe (Ind. Ant. Vol. XII. p. 99).
