Rāi Mal marched on Īdar and Zahīr-ul-Mulk went forth with his small force to meet him, and was defeated with the loss of more than a quarter of his men. Nusrat-ul-Mulk, who was at Ahmadnagar, pressed on, drove off Rāi Mal, and made Ahmadnagar his headquarters, maintaining order in the plains by harrying the brigands of the Vajinagar hills.
