This account of the Vedic schools has brought them well into the Brāhmaṇa period, and the chronology of that period may be considered. The great Brāhmaṇas⁷ were composed in the country of the Kurus or allied Kuru-Pañcālas,¹ hence the fusion of those two peoples is important, which occurred more than a century after the Bhārata battle or about 820 B.C. (p. 285).
