The Dynastic History of Northern India (Early Mediaeval Period) v2.c29.s2.88

- **Language:** English

### [v2.c29.s2.88](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.general.ray-1931.v2.c29.s2.88)

Lakṣmaṇarāja was succeeded by Śaṅkaragaṇa, his son by Rāhaḍā. This prince is omitted by the Goharwa grant of Lakṣmī-Karṇa;² but he is mentioned as king in the Benares³ and the Bilhari⁴ inscriptions. Both these records praise him only in vague terms, without any remark of the slightest value. He probably had a rather brief and inglorious reign. The only interesting fact known about him is his devotion to the god Viṣṇu (\*Vaiṣṇava-parama\*).⁵
