Tamiḷākara-munivan of Tinnevelly set forth portions of religious law from Sanskrit in two Tamil works called Prāyaccitta-samuccayam (1633) and Āśaucadīpikai; their names show that they dealt respectively with penances for sin and pollution due to death. He also wrote other works like Nītisāram and Nellaitiruppaṇi-mālai. Much more interesting is the anonymous ballad Rāmappayyan-ammānai, giving an account of the wars of a general of Tirumalai Nāyaka, which belongs to a class of works of which few specimens have survived.
