An eminent younger contemporary of Nannaya was Vēmulavāḍa Bhīma Kavi, associated by tradition with the Eastern Ganga emperor Anantavarman Choḍaganga (1078-1148). He was the author of \*Kavijanāśraya\*, a Telugu grammar, and \*Bhīmēśvara Purāṇa\* relating legends of the shrine of Bhīmēśvara at Dākṣhārāma. He seems to have written also \*Rāghava-Pāṇḍavīya\*, giving the story of both the \*Rāmāyaṇa\* and \*Mahābhārata\* together, the whole book being a sustained \*double entendre\*; it is no longer extant. There is much uncertainty about the life and works of Bhīma Kavi who has become a centre of many myths and miracles.
