Barshana—Barshan, near Bharatpur, on the border of the Chhāta Pargaṇā in the district of Mathurā, where Rādhikā was removed by her parents Bṛishabhānu and Kirat from Rāval, her birth-place. Rādhikā's love for Kṛishṇa an incarnation of Nārāyaṇa has been fully described in the Purāṇas. See Āshṭigrāma. Barshāṇa perhaps a corruption of Bṛishabhānupura. Barshāṇ, however, was also called Barasānu, a hill on the slope of which Bṛishabhānupura was situated.
