Anumaraṇa
c8.s6.t8.1
Vātsyāyana once refers to the *anumaraṇa*² of a woman upon the death of her lover; perhaps it has a reference to the practice of *sahamaraṇa* or dying with the husband, that is, burning herself on the same funeral pyre, but we cannot be sure about it upon such meagre evidence.
c8.s6.t8.2
² सक्तस चातुमरणं म्रयान् ।—*Ibid*, p. 316 (*sūtra* 53).
