When he is asked whether there is any remedy for frigidity, the Vita replies by dividing love into two categories—love that is aroused by some cause and love that is aroused without any cause. Promiscuity, indifference, constant companionship, dexterity in conversation, praise of the beloved's relations, adventures entailing risk and danger to life and gifts revive fading love. The love of a young girl is won through simplicity; the love of a greedy woman through money; the love of a wise woman through wisdom and the love of an angry woman through appeasement.
