⁸⁸⁰ From Utpala's com on Br. J VII 9, it appears that Manittha in his Horāśāstra refers to Parāśara 'चित्रे प्रोज्झ्य पराशर' कथयते दौर्भाग्यदं योषिताम्-इत्येवमादि मयमणित्थयोर्होराशास्त्रे विद्यते' मणिन्थ may be an Indian name also like डित्थ which occurs in the महाभाष्य on वार्तिक 5 on पाणिनि V. 1 119. There were two Manitthas, one a contemporary of Berossus, who wrote a history of Egypt, the other, author of Apotelesmata an astrological poem in Hexameters The मणित्य whom उत्पल quotes composed his work in Sanskrit verses and is probably an Indian double, if at all, of the Greek Manittha. Vide Kern's Preface p. 52 for मणित्थ.
