KIRĀTĀRJUNĪYA. A poem descriptive of the combat between Siva in the guise of a Kirāta or mountaineer and the Pāndu prince Arjuna. The story is first told in the Mahābhārata, and has been worked up in this artificial poem of eighteen cantos by Bhāravi. Part of it has been translated into German by Schütz. There are several editions of the text. See Arjuna.
