The varied evidence from a number of sites indicates that life during the Mesolithic was becoming more sedentary, food supply was more varied and secure and population was on the increase. Mesolithic hunter-gatherers and herders were already moving in the direction of farming-based village way of life. How far this trend was caused by indigenous stimuli and innovation or cultural impact of regular food-producers \[of the Neolithic cultures, 4.6\] only future researches will reveal.
