The Indian wild boar \*Sus scrofa cristatus\* is represented by numerous teeth in varying stages of wear. In fact there is very little difference in size as in relative proportions between the subspecies \*cristatus\* and \*scrofa\*. The teeth are very variable in size. In India \*Sus scrofa cristatus\* replaces the European wild boar, \*Sus scrofa scrofa\*. \*Sus scrofa cristatus\* is common throughout the peninsula. It lives in grass jungle and scrub and near marshy ground.
