The Proto-Australoid type so conspicuous during the Megalithic period of peninsular India is one of the major elements in the aboriginal population. The entire c. and s. Indian tribes belong essentially to this type. The same can be said of the tribes of w. India and some groups in the Ganga valley. The ADICHANNALUR skulls are similar to those of the Mundas.
