The late Harappa cultures appear to be the outcome of the normal process of cultural transformation in the Harappa culture and the internal interactions of the society due to an economic decline. These cultures witnessed a general decline in the civic standards of the mature Harappa. Planned houses were replaced by inferior structures. Mohenjo-daro especially witnessed in later times encroachments on public places and streets in an unprecedented manner.
