### [v1.c9.s14.13](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.ghosh-1989.v1.c9.s14.13)

Unlike the other contemporary farming cultures the people made little or no use of blade and microlithic tools \[which are however reported from the earlier excavations at Ahar² (\*IAR 1955-6\*, p. 11) and Gilund (\*ibid 1959-60\*, p. 41)\]. Instead they seem to have used metal tools more. Among the metal objects found are several copper flat axes, copper bangles, several copper sheets and a bronze sheet (from Ahar²) and fragments of copper (from Gilund). The discovery at Ahar² of a circular pit dug into the natural soil, 1·5 m in diameter and about 6 m deep and full of white ashes and metal-worker’s slag, attests to the practice of copper smelting and metallurgy from the beginning.
