### [v1.c9.s17.8](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.ghosh-1989.v1.c9.s17.8)

\*Chronology\*. The black-and-red ware of Megalithic association is found overlapping at the lower end with the Neolithic-Chalcolithic wares, dated from 1000 to 700 B.C. (¹⁴C dates of the Jorwe Ware) and at the upper end with the Russet-coated painted and Rouletted wares of A.D. 100. Although on this basis the megaliths themselves have often been dated between 1000 B.C. to A.D. 100 time-bracket, yet sometimes valid objections have been raised against this proposition since so far there is a total absence of any ¹⁴C date obtained on any material coming directly from within the Megalithic graves themselves.
