The unique megalithic chamber at HUNUR, the altars at MOTEBENNUR and SOMESHVARPETH (Coorg) and anthropomorphic figures at AIHOLE and MORIBETTA seem to suggest that they were connected with community rituals including worship of cult objects. The exact function of the rock-shelter chambers, polygonal chambers and stone alignments is yet to be known. Hunting expeditions seem to have been preceded by a ritual involving group-dancing, depicted in the rock paintings.
