### [v1.c9.s17.95](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.ghosh-1989.v1.c9.s17.95)

The excavated megaliths disclose a broad uniformity in the modes of burial and burial furniture: post-excarnate secondary, fractional or, rarely, articulated (e.g. at MASKI) post-crematory (as at CHIKANHALLI), single or multiple burial, and pottery vessels of all-black ware, black-and-red ware and red ware, iron objects, beads and bangles. Besides, some particular architectural features noted in the pit burials are: provision of a ramp to the pit on the e. side closed by a non-functional door-slab (BRAHMAGIRI); bed of ash and lime (MASKI) or husks (JADIGENAHALLI) on the floor of the pit; and division of the pit at the lower level into two subpits by leaving a transverse wall of earth across the pit (JADIGENAHALLI). At JEWARGI and ANDOLA multiple primary burials in the most haphazard way found in the upper part of the \*muram\* filling of the megaliths and at HUNUR some single pot burials containing calcined bones in the rubble packing of the long barrow seem to belong to later periods.
