### [v1.c9.s18.13](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.ghosh-1989.v1.c9.s18.13)

Of the two urban establishments of the period in Orissa \[4.18.8\]—SISUPALGARH and JAUGADA—the latter might have been established in Neolithic \[4.6.7\] surroundings, but the former seems to have sprung up from nowhere and its layout and planning are precocious. Both stand isolated, with no immediate successors.
