ERAN, ancient Airikiṇa, was excavated for a few seasons by the Saugar Univ. from 1964-5. No full report is however available. The historical habitations here begin with Pd II, characterized by the black-and-red ware and terracottas in early Sātavāhana style, shell pendants and terracotta cart-wheels. Pd III could be dated on the basis of the coin moulds and coins of W. Kṣatrapa kings. The last Pd was evidenced by glass and lac bangles and medieval coins.
