### [v1.c9.s18.t4.7](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.ghosh-1989.v1.c9.s18.t4.7)

Brick fortifications at BANAVASI (built on a rubble foundation) UDAYAVARA and VADAGAON-MADHAVPUR, \*caityas\* and \*stūpas\* at BRAHMAGIRI, BANAVASI and SANNATHI, apsidal religious (?) structures at VADAGAON-MADHAVPUR, brick-built residential complexes with square and circular wells and brick-lined storage bins at VADAGAON-MADHAVPUR, cisterns at the same place and CHANDRAVALLI, brick-paved floors at CHANDRAVALLI, and VADAGAON-MADHAVPUR, stone drain at CHANDRAVALLI, brick-built drains at VADAGAON-MADHAVPUR etc., represent the structural activity. House complexes exposed at VADAGAON-MADHAVPUR were two-roomed with/without verandas and with openings and post-holes for door jambs. The bricks seem to have been laid on the English bonding system. For circular wells wedge-shaped bricks are used. Bricks of various sizes, viz. 43 × 22 × 7, 34 × 33 × 10, 24 × 24 × 7·8, 44 × 27 × 10 and 35 × 25 × 10 cm, are used in the constructions.
