Seals and sealings belonging to this period too are significant, for, besides preserving the names of individuals, kings, settlements, offices, etc., they refer to religious denominations, socio-religious institutions like those of \*traividya\* and \*cāturvidya Brāhmaṇas\*, Vedic \*caraṇas\* (corporate bodies for the study of the Vedas), mottos, Buddhist creed \[12.8\], etc. Sacred motifs and deities are also found embossed or engraved on some of them. A lidded jar containing charred human bones found at RAJGHAT suggests some sort of post-cremation burial.
