The finds from the yellow sand deposits of KANGSABATI and Kumari rivers in Dts Bankura and Purulia are characterized by both scraper-point and Acheulian traditions (\*IAR 1959-60\*, pp. 48-50). In Dt Purulia the later assemblages of Middle Palaeolithic tradition are devoid of Acheulian implements and consist of well-prepared flakes having fine retouch.
