SISWAL, Dt Hissar, is another site in Haryana which has yielded in Pd A all the six fabrics of KALIBANGAN I. However here the excavator has identified a transition period, i.e. SISWAL B (Late Siswal). He points out: ‘although the six fabrics of KALIBANGAN I ware continue to survive, there is lack of variety in shapes and designs and the pottery is greatly sturdier and better potted in the phase. Some of the sherds bear graffiti. The occurrence of a few classical Harappan shapes such as scored goblet, beaker, dish and perforated jar in the otherwise non-Harappa culture complex indicate a contact between the two cultures and marks the transition stage for the Sub-period.’ (Suraj Bhan, 1975). MITATHAL, Dt Bhiwani, represents in Pd I the Late SISWAL phase. Sixteen sites of the SISWAL culture have been identified in the s.-w. part of Haryana.
