The pastimes of the people included the playing of chess of which gamesmen \[6.7.2\] have been found both in terracotta and stone. Some kind of gambling also seems to have been in vogue, as indicated by the dice \[6.7.1\], already referred to earlier. Hunting also must have formed a favourite pastime of the more daring ones. Youngsters played hopscotches \[6.7.3\] and marbles and rejoiced themselves with horned masks \[6.13\] and some ingenious terracottas, such as bulls with mobile heads and monkeys going up and down a string.
