Early Stone Age (Lower Palaeolithic \[4.2\]) tools were found in deposits assignable to the Second Glacial and the Second Interglacial. A stonework industry including remains of dishes, bowls, etc., was brought to light on the mound overlooking the Liddar valley near a 10th century temple.
