The walls of the temples and votive \*stūpas\* are not always plain. Sometimes they show carved bricks, \*kinnaras\*, \*āmalakas\*, bead-and-reel decorations, triangles, squares, rope designs, vases-with-foliage, inverted flasks, etc. Neatly jointed bricks present dentils, pots-with-foliage, arches, \*kīrthi-mukhas\* and geometric designs. Bricks have straw and rice husk in the core.
