### [v2.c42.82](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.ghosh-1989.v2.c42.82)

In the Megalithic levels the residences were circular, oval and oblong or plan as deduced from the disposition of the post-holes, their superstructure again being of perishable materials with a central post resting on a perforated stone to support the roof. The circular houses measure 1·5 to 3 m in diameter, while the oblong ones vary from 1·7 to 4 m along the longer axes. The floors are of stone chips with a \*murram\* spread and are often plastered with lime. A rubble floor has been also noticed on the periphery in some cases. Rubble foundations for houses are also not unusual. The houses are normally single-roomed though double-roomed ones are also present. Terracotta lamps \[6.11\], as seen from the find of an eight-lipped circular one, illuminated the houses.
