### [v2.c42.86](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.ghosh-1989.v2.c42.86)

The economy of both the Neolithic and Megalithic peoples appears mainly to be agricultural and cattlerearing, supplemented by huntings, besides ironworking in the Megalithic period as seen by the profusion of iron slag \[16.9.4\]. Cereals and pulses—horsegram (\*kulti\*) and greengram—were cultivated \[2\]. For harvesting composite tools of short blades seem to have been utilized. The animals domesticated or hunted included the cattle, sheep, deer, pig, foul, jungle cat and rhino.
