Located on the w. bank of the Ganga, the mound is about 32 km e. of Atrauli. In the lowest levels PGW \[11.14\] was succeeded by red ware associated elsewhere with the NBPW \[11.16\] though no sherd of the NBPW was found. Śuṅga-Kushan remains and Gupta antiquities followed, whereafter the site was temporarily deserted. It was re-occupied in \*c.\* 9th-12th centuries.
