\*\*Tripuri\*\*, \*\*Tewar\*\*, Dt Jabalpur, also called Karanbel after the Kalacuri king Karṇa, bounded by a tributary of the Narmada on three sides. In early historical times Tripurī had a coinage of its own. A. Cunningham noticed here a rampart wall (\*ASI—AR\*, 9, p. 54). Finding a few sherds of the NBPW \[11.16\] on the s. slope of the 7 m high mound, M.G. Dikshit excavated the site in 1951-3 on behalf of the Univ. of Saugar and identified five Pds.
