The excavations led to the exposure of a 7·32 m wide road running through an opening or gateway in the n.-e. corner of the e. wall. The road was built of a veneer of gravel laid with a camber over a clay soling. Though there is evidence for the use of burnt brick during the Pd no vestiges of any structure were met with to suggest its form and shape.
