### [v2.c8.s4.204](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.reference.mehta-chandra-1970.v2.c8.s4.204)

The author of Avassayanijjutti has remembered preceptor Vaira with reverence.⁶ Till the time of Vaira the four anuyogas were inseparate. It was preceptor Rakkhiya(1) who separated them.⁷ Vaira is said to have included the pamcamamgalas in the original scriptural texts after rejuvenating the niryukti, bhasya and curni commentaries.⁸ Rakkhia had studied somewhat more than nine Puvvas under Vaira.⁹
