There dwells Garuḍa (Garutmān); the four lokapālas, the gods, and Ṛṣis used to repair thither. There Viṣṇu (e) performed austerities; there Kumāra (d) threw his dart, which Viṣṇu (e) shook, and which Prahlāda (f) could not raise. North of H. lies Ādityaparvata, the hermitage of Çiva (Vṛṣadhvajaḥ), where he remained for a thousand celestial years, standing on one leg. It is surrounded on all sides with fire and cannot be approached by Yakshas, Rakshasas, and Dānavas, because the god of fire (Pāvakaḥ) himself removes all impediments from Çiva.
