⁴ Lang, \*Modern Mythology\*, pp. 65 ff. Feist (\*Kultur der Indogermanen\*, p. 343, n. 1) suggests connexion between Saraṇyū and Erinys as loan words from another tongue. The conjecture is possible that the term Erinys did not originally belong to the horse goddess at all, but that she bore a name really corresponding to Saraṇyū, but later confused with Erinys.
