Limestone
v1.c11.s12.1
It is proved that at Mohenjo-Daro there was the use of limestone. The main purpose of it was either for statues or for ring stones. Few statues were made of cream-coloured limestone. For architectural use, it was also applied. The ring stones were all cut from hard cherty limestone, cream or grey in colour and are on the whole well-finished, though their surfaces were left unpolished. They were cut on a lathe after being roughly dressed into shape. (MCK, 257, 595)
