Formerly Amazon stone or Amazonite, a green variety of microcline feldspar was obtained only from the Urals. But this microcline is common in India. This precious variety has so far been reported only from Dodabetta in the Nilgiri hills and possibly from the Padar district of Kashmir. The Mohenjo-Daro material may well have come either from these localities.
