This makes one suspect that, despite the number of manuscripts and the edition which call the second volume the work of Acyuta, it is in fact a continuation by another hand (Veṅkaṭeśa’s) of Acyuta’s Devakerala. This Veṅkaṭeśa is perhaps Veṅkaṭeśa Bhūgola (q.v.), who belonged to the Kāśyapagotra; he flourished in the middle of the seventeenth century.
